The assembly about Internet Safety.

Here at Dpms today, we had a school assembly. This school assembly was about our cellphones and being safe on them. I thought this was a ridiculous assembly. The guest speaker had some good points, but some of the things that they talked about were weird to me.

Before I start, I just want to say that this is my opinion. It is not meant to offend anyone. I get the messages they were trying to get to us, this is simply my feelings about it.

Here is the first thing. We get this assembly one way or another every year. Maybe not last year with Covid, but I can’t remember any other year that I have been going to school and not getting this talk. It doesn’t matter if it was a talk, activity, or assembly. We would always get it one way or another. I don’t know about anyone else, but I got tired of these in the 2nd grade. It just gets tiring after everyone tells you to be safe on the internet. Well, what if you are? What if you are being the safest you can be and yet people can still get to you? What do you do then? It’s not like all the bad people went away because you are being as safe as you can. There are always going to be bad people.

Another thing was that the depression and anxiety rates went up. Well, here are a few things about that. They have gone up, yes. Is that all because of our phones, no. There are many other reasons for anxiety and depression. Not just phones. I know that they have a part to play, but there is so much more to that. Like school, I know at least 10 people where their anxiety gets worse at school. All of those classes and work is hard to do. I also know 10 people where their depression gets worse because of school. That just hurts. Sometimes their phones are their way to escape that, which is sad for the world. It should not have to come to that to hide from the world because of people and the world in general.

Now, I do agree with them on some stuff. Are we clingy to our phones a little bit? Of course, but not everyone is. I also agree with some of the apps being really dangerous. But again, everything in life is dangerous. These apps are just more dangerous than the rest. I think that we need to be safe on the internet, but not go crazy. Do whatever you want to do. If you want to try to be the safest you can, go for it. If you want to be safe, but not go too crazy, go for it. If you don’t want to try to protect yourself and just let it be, go for it. If you are somewhere in there, go for it. You don’t need to get rid of every app that is bad and not do anything on your phone. Just do what fits you.

Tea poll Results

The results are in for the favorite tea poll. Thank you to the people that voted!

As you can see, there are only 3 responses here. The green 33% is any fruit teas. Those are so good. The purple 33% is herbal infusion. I personally don’t like this tea as much, but it is still good. The red 33% says that they are not allowed to drink tea because of their religion. I totally respect that. Thank you for still answering. If you would like to take the poll still, click here.

Pandemic life

As you know, we are in a pandemic. If you don’t, where have you been for the last one and a half years? Now, I am very fortunate to not have been affected by this pandemic in many horrible ways. I am also very grateful for that. My heart goes out to anyone that was affected by this. While it didn’t affect me and my family horribly, we were still affected. The first thing was that we went into a lockdown on March 11th, 2020. In my family, we have some people that are at high risk to get it and get very, very sick. So, my family was very careful. Only the adults went out and even so, they would only leave if necessary.I don’t think I went anywhere until July that year. We were all wearing masks and sanitizing everything. Well, except for the Karens of the world. This pandemic has brought to light a lot of things. Personally and to the whole world. Especially during the summer. Then school came along. So went, some didn’t. I personally didn’t. I went fully online. That was a big struggle for a lot of people. I was one of those people. At first, it was really difficult. Students and teachers were trying to make it work. Overall, it was ok. This year, I am back in school. I am really happy about it. This past year and a half has been really hard for a lot of people, but we are working so hard to get this together. Stay safe!
